Well, now it's been 30 weeks. That is 150 days I have been with my beautiful Year 4s, and I cannot believe it. I'm starting to realise that there are only 12 weeks left in the school year with them, and it's hit me how much I'll miss my gorgeous first class.<br />
<br />
But anyway, life is going just phenomenally right now. And I mean that.<br />
Em and I are in the process of booking our Christmas trip to England and Scotland. Flights and tours have been booked and we couldn't be more excited. And I mean that. I'm trying to be cool, but sometimes we just sit and have a weep because we can't believe it's real.<br />
<br />
Also, I'm heading off on a cruise in 2 weeks to the Pacific Islands with my teaching partner Deb for 7 nights! Couldn't be more pumped about it - preparing myself with fabulous cruising clothes (specifically my glorious emerald green chiffon cruising pants!). Also, it was Deb's 30th last night - what an AWESOME party! Quiet day today though...<br />
<br />
ANYWAY, enough about me and more about what I've been up to the last few months knitting and crochet wise. Let's have a look.<br />
From earliest to most recent:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://images4.ravelrycache.com/uploads/pureskies/99524431/document_upload20502-1_medium2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://images4.ravelrycache.com/uploads/pureskies/99524431/document_upload20502-1_medium2.jpg" width="478" /> </a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
My little seat cover.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
A blanket Anne, Nana and I made for the hospital. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The <i>Maisie </i>mittens. Used for my mornings on the way to work and on our Melbourne trip last holidays. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://images4.ravelrycache.com/uploads/pureskies/108084077/document_upload29015-0_medium2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://images4.ravelrycache.com/uploads/pureskies/108084077/document_upload29015-0_medium2.jpg" width="478" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Another blanket we made for the hospital. Such a fan of this one, the colours were so beautiful in real life. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://images4.ravelrycache.com/uploads/pureskies/108083805/document_upload23789-0_medium2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="478" src="http://images4.ravelrycache.com/uploads/pureskies/108083805/document_upload23789-0_medium2.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
A shawl made for the hospital, again made by Anne, Nana and I. So fun to try a new square motif !</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://images4.ravelrycache.com/uploads/pureskies/103184714/document_upload24311-0_medium2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="478" src="http://images4.ravelrycache.com/uploads/pureskies/103184714/document_upload24311-0_medium2.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
A blanket (obviously much bigger now that it is finished) made for my friend Kayla for her birthday. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://images4.ravelrycache.com/uploads/pureskies/106378052/document_upload22764-1_medium2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://images4.ravelrycache.com/uploads/pureskies/106378052/document_upload22764-1_medium2.jpg" width="478" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Mittens I made for Em for Melbourne - called Loki'd! in honour of that glorious phase of our life which was filled with sunshine, rainbows and Hiddles. Who am I kidding, 'phase'! Ha!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://images4.ravelrycache.com/uploads/pureskies/109684455/document_upload3016-2_medium2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="478" src="http://images4.ravelrycache.com/uploads/pureskies/109684455/document_upload3016-2_medium2.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Mary Margaret's hat! Oh, Once Upon A Time, when will you be back in my life?</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://images4.ravelrycache.com/uploads/pureskies/109680023/document_upload10593-0_medium2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://images4.ravelrycache.com/uploads/pureskies/109680023/document_upload10593-0_medium2.jpg" width="478" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
My Sherlock Holmes-themed cowl! Again, for Melbourne.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://images4.ravelrycache.com/uploads/pureskies/109984369/document_upload14809-1_medium2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://images4.ravelrycache.com/uploads/pureskies/109984369/document_upload14809-1_medium2.jpg" width="478" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Oh, such a huge fan of this one. Made it in a whirlwind couple of days - so easy and so fun (even if it seemed never ending!). Finished the day before we left for Melbourne I believe!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://images4.ravelrycache.com/uploads/pureskies/114622266/document_upload14509-0_medium2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://images4.ravelrycache.com/uploads/pureskies/114622266/document_upload14509-0_medium2.jpg" width="478" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Mittens I made for Mum as per her request. My first foray into embroidery- fairly proud of myself tbh!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://images4.ravelrycache.com/uploads/pureskies/115466342/photo_1__medium.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://images4.ravelrycache.com/uploads/pureskies/115466342/photo_1__medium.JPG" width="476" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br />A cosy for my work hard drive.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://images4.ravelrycache.com/uploads/pureskies/115466019/photo_medium.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="476" src="http://images4.ravelrycache.com/uploads/pureskies/115466019/photo_medium.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Ugh, it's painful just to look at this. This thing was the bane of my existence for a significant period. It just would not turn out the way I wanted it to - but I didn't want to undo it so I just kept going until I got fed up and did the edge of it! Very glad to give it away, not going to lie. Another for the hospital. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://images4.ravelrycache.com/uploads/pureskies/116366390/document_upload30420-0_medium2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="478" src="http://images4.ravelrycache.com/uploads/pureskies/116366390/document_upload30420-0_medium2.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
And finally, my second 'Hermione Hearts Ron' hat. Oh, this one turned out so much better than the first (glad I get to keep this one!). Gorgeous pattern, I loved this hat since I saw the film. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The first of my England knitting!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Well, that's about all from me today. It was fantastic updating this again. I'd love to hear any and all thoughts you have out there! Hope you are all being treated well by the universe. xx</div>

How it's been 10 weeks of teaching already I'll never know, but there you go!<br />
<br />
I have little to share in the way of my activities, especially as yesterday was dedicated to doing absolutely NOTHING. Not a thing at all that I didn't want to do (except a little washing - but no school work!). It was truly glorious!<br />
<br />
Now just awaiting my delightful wisdom teeth surgery on Tuesday - really not excited to have all 4 taken out on my precious holiday but there you go. And right before Easter! But hey, <i>Game of Thrones </i>comes out tomorrow so at least I have that bundle of eyeball perfection between me and that.<br />
<br />
Just wanted to share a few of my projects I haven't had a chance to present over the last few months!<br />

It has been 6 weeks since we've moved into our new home, and I have to say it has been truly the most fantastic time of my life. I am so content, and while insanely busy and stressed with my new job, it makes me so happy to come home at night and on the weekends, switch off, and spend some time with my best friend in such a quaint, hipster house.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhkNZISqV5s3rCPXkioiiMKhxYoJgjGzjoLkvnVRtsNUG8K58JsI-Aow5lI_QFkeswtseumepS536neC7c7KwLaVXO3mCqfRgpakwUqf3Zh5gkRzsXUtIn8F7-p7ZMvpBXG8VXWNkB93XE/s1600/IMG_1128.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="488" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhkNZISqV5s3rCPXkioiiMKhxYoJgjGzjoLkvnVRtsNUG8K58JsI-Aow5lI_QFkeswtseumepS536neC7c7KwLaVXO3mCqfRgpakwUqf3Zh5gkRzsXUtIn8F7-p7ZMvpBXG8VXWNkB93XE/s640/IMG_1128.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br />

<br />
<br />
The kitchen, arguably my favourite room in the house.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhgLDATnO03sHQUlvwmlo4orziBcg-BuPgoDc_mfFtod82GL64TA5rbB7dIaFjXwK16J1Zd9sRJD7EltnBllL47kj3x-uD_K8aMVaGWdyHPx5ZFi0vLFOKAZnNDBFR5S6WD0Tk4J2zYmik/s1600/IMG_1131.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="488" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhgLDATnO03sHQUlvwmlo4orziBcg-BuPgoDc_mfFtod82GL64TA5rbB7dIaFjXwK16J1Zd9sRJD7EltnBllL47kj3x-uD_K8aMVaGWdyHPx5ZFi0vLFOKAZnNDBFR5S6WD0Tk4J2zYmik/s640/IMG_1131.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br />

The study, or 'Cloak Room'. So pleased to see the Ripple Blanket and cushion in action! It lives out in the lounge now, where I can admire it every day.<br />

My classroom!<br />
<br />
Being a teacher is as amazing and full-on as I expected - and you know what? I love it more than anything in the world.<br />

Not only have I started my new (and first!) teaching job, but Emily and I are officially moving into our new home in 5 days!<br />
<br />
We are so very excited about the whole prospect, and the many days that it has taken to organise everything have truly been the most phenomenal days. I honestly cannot wait until Saturday when we can finally get all of these ghastly boxes in and start making our sweet daydreams a reality.<br />
<br />
Today in particular was a lovely day. While we did had to take a taxing trip into Brisbane to sort out our new internet connection with Reuben, we had a lovely little shopping day, searching for a variety of hipster delights. I was very pleased about our purchuses, but I want to specifically talk about our morning tea/lunch at the Tea Centre.<br />
<br />
It is the most quaint, lovely little place. While I'm not the world's biggest fan of tea, I adore tea cups and pots and various tea paraphenalia. But what I love more than that is scones.<br />
<br />

I kind of can't believe I have made all of this, looking at all of these pictures. 44! And that doesn't include WIPs or hibernating projects!<br />
I can remember really strange things about each of these finished objects, and vivid memories started to flood back about what I was doing when I made them. I should reminisce more often!<br />

I'm actually having a fantastic time getting all ready for Christmas, I'm really excited about the small, mellow gathering we're having this year.<br />
<br />
But, given that I am now on a bit of a holiday and have some free time, I want to take this opportunity to share a few projects I've been working on over the last couple of months.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://images4.ravelrycache.com/uploads/pureskies/83837813/document_upload28312-0_medium2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://images4.ravelrycache.com/uploads/pureskies/83837813/document_upload28312-0_medium2.jpg" width="478" /></a></div>My very own Selbu Modern, for my lovely friend Jen! I had so much fun making this, and in about 3 days while on my working trip to Warwick!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://images4.ravelrycache.com/uploads/pureskies/84702259/document_upload30092-0_medium2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://images4.ravelrycache.com/uploads/pureskies/84702259/document_upload30092-0_medium2.jpg" width="478" /></a></div>A wreath for my door :D<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://images4.ravelrycache.com/uploads/pureskies/84846867/document_upload1359-0_medium2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="478" src="http://images4.ravelrycache.com/uploads/pureskies/84846867/document_upload1359-0_medium2.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>Those familiar with <i>Game of Thrones </i>might recognise this little guy :D Ghost, for my lovely best friend Emily :D<br />
Finally, the project I'm currently working on - a cowl-scarf thing for the colder months next year!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://images4.ravelrycache.com/uploads/pureskies/85190460/document_upload27765-2_medium2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="478" src="http://images4.ravelrycache.com/uploads/pureskies/85190460/document_upload27765-2_medium2.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>and in my brand new project bag too! One of my Christmas gifts from Emily!<br />
<br />
Can't wait to hear about how all of your wonderful projects are going! I'd love to hear from you!<br />

What a whirlwind few months it's been! Final prac, internship, interview, impending graduation - and all this stressful job hunting! Ugh, I really actually just want to curl up in my sock drawer and sleep for days but hey!<br />
<br />
I have a few different things to share, stuff I've been working on over the last few months.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://images4.ravelrycache.com/uploads/pureskies/76197418/document_upload5956-0_medium2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="478" src="http://images4.ravelrycache.com/uploads/pureskies/76197418/document_upload5956-0_medium2.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>My tweed and bowtie mittens, inspired by the Eleventh Doctor's costume. I just HAD to make these and was so proud of them! My 'subtle' Doctor Who wardrobe continues to expand...<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://images4.ravelrycache.com/uploads/pureskies/76452550/document_upload21540-0_medium2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://images4.ravelrycache.com/uploads/pureskies/76452550/document_upload21540-0_medium2.jpg" width="478" /></a></div>Brianna Blanket. Wow, this I started making out of odds and ends on Dad's birthday (in FEBRUARY no less). I was very proud to see it finished.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://images4.ravelrycache.com/uploads/pureskies/77903445/document_upload17848-2_medium2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="478" src="http://images4.ravelrycache.com/uploads/pureskies/77903445/document_upload17848-2_medium2.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br />
My first ever cowl. Named 'Heather' due to those gorgeous colours. I was very proud of this and it kept me very warm. I gave this to Kayla as a gift for her Minnesota trip.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://images4.ravelrycache.com/uploads/pureskies/78458354/document_upload16253-0_medium2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="478" src="http://images4.ravelrycache.com/uploads/pureskies/78458354/document_upload16253-0_medium2.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>This gorgeous blanket, designed by Nana and I and made by us and Anne. We just accidentally put the colours together and look how lovely they are! They reminded me so much of the cornfield colour scheme from 'Let's Kill Hitler' (Doctor Who). Just love this blanket! So sad to give it away to charity, but that's what we made it for!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://images4.ravelrycache.com/uploads/pureskies/79474255/document_upload28974-0_medium2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://images4.ravelrycache.com/uploads/pureskies/79474255/document_upload28974-0_medium2.jpg" width="478" /></a></div>A bag made for Em's birthday! I can't get over how proud of this I am, even though it is imperfect! I just HAD to make this, featuring Rory, Amy, the Doctor and River. And Em LOVED it, so all the hard work was worth it!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://images4.ravelrycache.com/uploads/pureskies/81242501/document_upload27319-0_medium2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="478" src="http://images4.ravelrycache.com/uploads/pureskies/81242501/document_upload27319-0_medium2.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>And my final finished object! I can't even believe I was able to make the Endpaper Mitts. I have adored this pattern since I first joined Ravelry but I never thought I'd be able to make them! It took a lot of work (especially when time made it so I had to make one mitten in ONE DAY!) but I managed it! By marathoning Once Upon a Time, which has become quite an addiction of mine! Named them 'Blanchard' in honour of this marathoning, and the white used.<br />
<br />
<br />
Now for some things I'm working on... <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://images4.ravelrycache.com/uploads/pureskies/80622195/document_upload2848-0_medium2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://images4.ravelrycache.com/uploads/pureskies/80622195/document_upload2848-0_medium2.jpg" width="478" /></a></div><br />
Emily was such a huge fan of the colours in the Leadworth Blanket, that I decided to make her a ripple for Christmas using the colours. I have wanted to make another Ripple Blanket ever since I finished <a href="http://blueoceanspureskies.blogspot.com/2010/12/seasons-greetings.html">this one</a> last year. Very happy with the way it's coming along, about 65% of the way through. Matching cushion to follow!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://images4.ravelrycache.com/uploads/pureskies/81322112/document_upload17932-1_medium2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://images4.ravelrycache.com/uploads/pureskies/81322112/document_upload17932-1_medium2.jpg" width="478" /></a></div>Finally, I'm one mitten into a pair I've designed and am making for my dear Jen for Christmas! So excited about sending some warm things over to Canada for her - especially since she actually gets to wear them! Damn you, Aussie summer!blueoceanspureskieshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16846982870148533457noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1677305514153864450.post-48025600294873788322011-09-22T10:59:00.000+10:002011-09-22T10:59:01.020+10:00finished object explosion!I cannot believe how long it's been since I've updated my blog! I was just starting my third prac! Well, now I've finished my fourth one and am moving into my internship after the holidays are over! I am now officially a qualified teacher! Such fun!<br />
<br />
So, looking at the bareness of my blog compared to the cluttered nature of my ravelry projects, I decided I needed to share all I've made in the last 5 months! (Oldest to newest!)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://images4.ravelrycache.com/uploads/pureskies/70583198/document_upload18879-0_medium2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://images4.ravelrycache.com/uploads/pureskies/70583198/document_upload18879-0_medium2.jpg" width="298" /></a></div><br />
Another blanket Nana, Anne and I have made for the local hospital.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://images4.ravelrycache.com/uploads/pureskies/68293006/IMG_0202_medium2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://images4.ravelrycache.com/uploads/pureskies/68293006/IMG_0202_medium2.JPG" width="298" /> </a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I wasn't completely happy with my last Godric's Hollow hat, so I made another one! Just in time for the Deathly Hallows Pt II midnight screening (aka the best night of my life). Em and I posing in our Hermione hats, Dark marks and Hogwarts letters too!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://images4.ravelrycache.com/uploads/pureskies/67823921/document_upload9603-0_medium2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://images4.ravelrycache.com/uploads/pureskies/67823921/document_upload9603-0_medium2.jpg" width="298" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"> Also made for the Deathly Hallows midnight screening - but for a different friend! Kayla tells me he was very supportive and cuddly to hold through those emotional moments! </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://images4.ravelrycache.com/uploads/pureskies/66685726/document_upload32136-1_medium2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="298" src="http://images4.ravelrycache.com/uploads/pureskies/66685726/document_upload32136-1_medium2.jpg" width="400" /> </a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://images4.ravelrycache.com/uploads/pureskies/67055449/document_upload24806-6_medium2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://images4.ravelrycache.com/uploads/pureskies/67055449/document_upload24806-6_medium2.jpg" width="298" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">MY TWO ABSOLUTE FAVOURITE THINGS IN THE UNIVERSE! And sadly, I gave them both away. The Doctor went to my dear brother Tom for his birthday, and Roranicus Pondicus to Emily. I had SO much fun designing Rory, and the pattern for Eleven was absolutely fantastic to do. I basically want to make these for all the characters from everything in my life :D</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://images4.ravelrycache.com/uploads/pureskies/71370906/document_upload28032-0_medium2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="298" src="http://images4.ravelrycache.com/uploads/pureskies/71370906/document_upload28032-0_medium2.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"> I adore this scarf! Made during my epic 10 season Friends marathon, and therefore named 'Monica'.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://images4.ravelrycache.com/uploads/pureskies/71370596/document_upload28020-1_medium2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="298" src="http://images4.ravelrycache.com/uploads/pureskies/71370596/document_upload28020-1_medium2.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">A clutch! I've been using it as a bag for everything and I just love it! I had a great time lining it and adding all sorts of pockets. I've named it 'Pentos', as while having a Game of Thrones marathon (wow, sensing a theme) these colours reminded me of Danaerys and her wedding dress and all the colours around Pentos when we first met her. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://images4.ravelrycache.com/uploads/pureskies/74230354/Untitled-2_medium.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://images4.ravelrycache.com/uploads/pureskies/74230354/Untitled-2_medium.png" width="297" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">AAH! I cannot believe I actually made this! It's probably the most complex thing I've attempted, and I just can't believe it turned out looking perfect! (Especially since I read the chart the wrong way and had to do every decrease row in reverse! :/). For Kayla, for her trip to Minnesota in November. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Now for my WIPs...</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://images4.ravelrycache.com/uploads/pureskies/72690709/document_upload25767-0_medium2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="298" src="http://images4.ravelrycache.com/uploads/pureskies/72690709/document_upload25767-0_medium2.jpg" width="400" /> </a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Making this for my mentor teacher as a thank you, to be given at the end my internship. I can't believe it, I'm over half way and it's just gotten hot! So, I will assure Mel that I began it when it was freezing, and hopefully a cold snap will be heading our way!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://images4.ravelrycache.com/uploads/pureskies/74920211/document_upload18033-0_medium2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="298" src="http://images4.ravelrycache.com/uploads/pureskies/74920211/document_upload18033-0_medium2.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"> And finally, I have started (about 15% completed) a Tilting TARDIS Cowl. This pattern was one of the first things I ever bookmarked when I started knitting last year, but never had the skills (or guts!) to start one. But oh! I am just so excited about this (even though, as sadly stated earlier... Summer is almost upon us...) and I can't wait to see it completed! It'll look so amazing once it's blocked and joined, draped happily around my neck as I run around singing the Doctor Who theme and doing the DW dance. :D</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">So that's what I've been up to in the last few months! Now back to planning, which I have been craftily avoiding by updating this blog...</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div>blueoceanspureskieshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16846982870148533457noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1677305514153864450.post-53654504358865216872011-05-08T20:08:00.001+10:002011-05-08T20:08:57.980+10:00BP = Before PracTonight is my very last night of freedom before one month of prac. I am really nervous and physically anxious already, but I know that before I know it it will be over!<br />
But I definitely won't be on my blog until June, so I'm going to just leave a pic of my latest creation for luck!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://images4.ravelrycache.com/uploads/pureskies/61714771/103_0304_medium2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://images4.ravelrycache.com/uploads/pureskies/61714771/103_0304_medium2.JPG" width="640" /></a></div><br />
My latest Harry Potter inspired hat! This is Hermione's hat from the Godric's Hollow Scene in Deathly Hallows! I will be wearing it to the premiere in... 66 days!blueoceanspureskieshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16846982870148533457noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1677305514153864450.post-5429302833475741412011-04-29T20:04:00.000+10:002011-04-29T20:04:32.495+10:00knitting adventuresAlmost a year ago now, I asked my Nana on a complete whim if she would help me to knit a scarf! I don't know why, but I just HAD to have a scarf made by me! And so my reintroduction into the world of knitting began!<br />
I wanted to make so many pretty things I had seen on Ravelry and elsewhere in the interweb, but no matter how hard I tried, I just didn't quite have the skills I needed!<br />
And so I asked Nana (again on a whim) if she would show me how to crochet! And oh, it was love at first sight! An obsession for me! And so, for the past year I have been making crochet project on top of crochet project and barely given knitting a second thought!<br />
But alas, I REALLY, DESPERATELY wanted to make Hermione's hat from Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince, and there just wasn't a crochet equivalent!<br />
And so, one glorious day, I discovered the beauty of knitting on circular needles! I had always been far too intimidated- everything I had ever read made it seem far to hard!<br />
Oh, how wrong I was! Using circulars has completely revolutionized my whole approach to knitting! And I can't get enough of it! I absolutely have the confidence to attempt any project I want to!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5310/5563449173_8faf7ff1fc_z.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5310/5563449173_8faf7ff1fc_z.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>First, my Hermione Hearts Ron hat, which I previewed in my last post!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://images4.ravelrycache.com/uploads/pureskies/61023403/document_upload364-0_medium.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://images4.ravelrycache.com/uploads/pureskies/61023403/document_upload364-0_medium.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br />
A cute little pouch for my new iPhone, Rupe!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://images4.ravelrycache.com/uploads/pureskies/61215005/document_upload17440-0_medium.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://images4.ravelrycache.com/uploads/pureskies/61215005/document_upload17440-0_medium.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br />
And I'm also working on yet another Hermione hat, this time from the Godric's Hollow scene in Deathly Hallows!<br />
<br />
Only 2 more rows and I start decreasing!<br />
<br />
Finally, and I can't believe this- I've started a pair of <i>socks! </i>I can't believe it, I am so excited!<br />

Very, very busy but I wanted to add a little update about what I've been up to!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i56.tinypic.com/63r2jb.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://i56.tinypic.com/63r2jb.jpg" /></a></div><br />
I've finished my Ripple Blanket!!!! Oh my goodness, I've never been so proud of a project!!! I could just look at it all day! My goodness, it took so so long to do all 60 ripply stripes, but gosh it was worth it! And Nana's reaction yesterday just made me as happy as I thought it would!!!<br />
<br />
Merry Christmas to everyone, I hope it is a fantastic holiday season for all!blueoceanspureskieshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16846982870148533457noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1677305514153864450.post-11861020485571566342010-12-06T00:17:00.001+10:002010-12-06T00:20:00.094+10:00delightful decemberJust a bit of an update about what I've been up to lately! First up, my newest and biggest project I've ever attempted. Using my <a href="http://blueoceanspureskies.blogspot.com/2010/11/freedom.html">birthday yarn</a>, I am creating a glorious ripple blanket for my double bed!<br />
Never has a project caused me so much joy and pride! I lay it out on my bed when I'm not working on it, and walk into my room just to look at it a burst with happiness! At first I wasn't sure it'd work out, but it is and I'm so happy!<br />
But the TIME it takes! It's about an hour for one colour, and since I'm looking at doing sixty of them, it's a LOT of hours! But, totally worth it! I just NEED it to be finished NOW! I want to surprise Nana!<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi4wEOE9JjW8pLc42RYTx84SCqbWdakemzhctBBj84MQ3W3nSfKEU2EKQ1HcrfCwtKPiF6J4zBAEMYIT5guMBH3Vk_gQbmEiQmTa0DvLqBytaAZ76LouhZr_ILTIw4fJUjp8QzAnaMl8VA/s640/101_0195.JPG" width="640" /> </div><br />
How I spent last weekend and yesterday.... Judge me if you will, it was amazing. MY CHILDHOOD AND WHOLE LIFE RIGHT THERE.<br />
<br />

Also, I have wrapped my very first Christmas present! I was in such a happy place while doing this, wrapping my first crocheted Christmas gift, listening to carols and feeling wonderfully festive! <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhonjqEjxQHnuvmbp2w-mW5QWWGT_OkcQuvEDF3E57wBSYe1hUjw5twr5b8NkkDksouroeSsf4BM8cEfaEfQQJiS1uwAjArJufLacuBhP4EN2cif0Q0Ib2IWpT3c028PM2rDmgPSylAYiY/s1600/101_0208.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhonjqEjxQHnuvmbp2w-mW5QWWGT_OkcQuvEDF3E57wBSYe1hUjw5twr5b8NkkDksouroeSsf4BM8cEfaEfQQJiS1uwAjArJufLacuBhP4EN2cif0Q0Ib2IWpT3c028PM2rDmgPSylAYiY/s640/101_0208.JPG" width="640" /></a></div><br />
We're also reaching the end of our newest charity blanket project! That is, Nana, Anne and I. Just the crocheting together and edging! Very excited! We're exceedingly happy with this strange and weirdly wonderful product we've collaboratively created!<br />
<br />

I have eight weeks holiday, and I am simply joyous at the prospect.<br />
<br />
<br />
While I don't really feel up to going into deep, deep detail about my blissful holiday activities right now, I'll leave you with a couple of photos that make me wildly happy to be alive. Simple stuff, but it all makes my heart beat just a little faster.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i54.tinypic.com/n6yj49.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://i54.tinypic.com/n6yj49.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br />

My goodness, am I relieved! I was actually quite sad on Friday, I will miss everyone very much! But I shall definitely go back. And soon, very very soon, I will be on <i>actual </i>holidays! Only 2 tests, an assignment and an interview between me and holidays (and my birthday!)<br />
<br />
And only 12 days until the Deathly Hallows, OH MY GOD. (and I've continually got the literal trailer song in my head <i>this movie is the most important movie you will ever see- back up in a library!</i>). Oh man. SO EXCITED. Nov 18th, 9:30am, Chermside! Woo!<br />
<br />
I've also been working on a few projects! My Daisy Patch blanket is completely finished, and I am so happy with it! I can't wait to show a photo of it when I recharge the camera :D<br />
<br />
I've also been working on a wonderfully colourful cotton bag! Just got to wait for more wool to come over from Wales so I can finish it off!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1083/5150004925_2ef07577bb.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1083/5150004925_2ef07577bb.jpg" /> </a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4028/5150614190_58fa45997f.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4028/5150614190_58fa45997f.jpg" /> </a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Nana, Anne and I have also started working on our next blanket for charity! I'm quite pleased with my squares so far! I got the reds, Nana got the blues and Anne got the greens. I'm hoping it will turn out beautifully!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1100/5150001971_4aa529e6ca.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1100/5150001971_4aa529e6ca.jpg" /> </a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">I've also slightly injured myself...I had a small fall at Nana's yesterday, on a piece of mossy, wet concrete. It was actually quite hysterical, with me sitting there in the bathroom, 8 days from my 20th birthday with Nana using a cotton but to tidy up my wound and strapping up my foot. We couldn't stop laughing!!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1179/5150612716_95af8b6c8e.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1179/5150612716_95af8b6c8e.jpg" /></a></div>blueoceanspureskieshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16846982870148533457noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1677305514153864450.post-23283377348764312652010-10-20T17:20:00.000+10:002010-10-20T17:20:22.062+10:00slowly getting there...Prac is 13 days down, 7 to go.<br />
I am almost at the end of my rope, I need it to be over right now. I'm sick of feeling stressed and nauseous all the time, but I know it will all be worth it in the end. I really am enjoying my time, but I really am ready for this stage of my year to be over. I just need a day to do nothing, and calm myself the hell down.<br />
<br />
Getting there, getting there! I think I can... I think I can....<br />
<br />
I don't mean to vent on here, I want my blog to be a happy, wonderful place. But this is where I'm at right now, and I think it is important that I am able to look back and laugh at how crazy I am, barely able to remember the completely <i>shitty </i>feeling I've had for the last three weeks. <br />
<br />
On a positive note, I have all my wool for the Daisy Patch Throw! I am now able to continue with it! YAY!<br />
Also, the final touches of the edging on the group charity blanket is being done by Nana right now. I can't wait to see it finished, but even more I can't wait to plan our next one!blueoceanspureskieshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16846982870148533457noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1677305514153864450.post-16332340732376358842010-10-10T10:16:00.000+10:002010-10-10T10:16:43.643+10:00one week down, three to go<div style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">My first week of prac is already over! While the days go swiftly, it's the nights and mornings before that have my stomach roiling with nerves and stress! But it will be over soon, and I'm sure it's going well! I CAN DO THIS!</div><div style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">Part of me wishes I had a teacher who was less intimidating and talented, but I know this is an amazing experience that will help me to become a wonderful teacher!</div><div style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><br />
</div><div style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">And, not to fret, I have managed to get in a bit of crochet! </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif; text-align: center;"><a href="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4131/5045411743_54a33d52df.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4131/5045411743_54a33d52df.jpg" width="300" /> </a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif; text-align: left;">My rainbow burst cushion cover! I think it turned out quite splendidly, and truly brightens up my room!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif; text-align: left;"> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif; text-align: left;">Also in the works is the Lafayette Afghan I'm making Em for Christmas! It's coming along swimmingly, when I have the chance to crochet, and I'm quite happy with how it's looking! I'm so excited to be making a blanket, especially since my Daisy Patch is in hibernation due to lack of yarn availability! Bloody Spotlight!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif; text-align: center;"><a href="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4087/5065784291_d921f845ac.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4087/5065784291_d921f845ac.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif; text-align: left;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif; text-align: left;">It's also been raining, raining, raining! Flash floods all over the place, all sorts of bad weather! But I'm loving it- even though I'm stuck in front of the computer planning all my stuff for the week to come. Oh goodness, prac may be the death of me yet...</div><div style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><br />

I find myself just loving doing simple household tasks, like baking, crocheting, gardening, cleaning, watching Disney films... All that fun, happy, wonderful stuff! I'm beginning to think I should start a career in this stuff. Uni? What's the point?</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif; text-align: left;">I'll be starting prac very soon (eek! 2 days), and I don't have anything ready. I keep putting it off. As you can see, I'm doing it now. I like not to think about it cause it makes me feel sick. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif; text-align: left;"> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif; text-align: left;">On that note, take a look at the cushions I've been making over the last couple of days! They're for the lounge room, I'm slowly taking over the rest of the house with my creations...</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif; text-align: left;"><br />

I'm quite proud of them! I'm just about finished the light blue, and it's looking great! Just another 2 rounds! This one's mine, cause I know I'll appreciate it :D</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif; text-align: left;"> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif; text-align: center;"><a href="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4083/5042963300_88cca1b5ea.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4083/5042963300_88cca1b5ea.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><div style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><br />

</div><div style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">For these cushion covers, I've completely stolen (with love) all of Lucy at Attic24's patterns, including the <a href="http://attic24.typepad.com/weblog/summer-garden-granny-square.html">Summer Garden Granny Square</a>, the <a href="http://attic24.typepad.com/weblog/joining-asyougo-sqaures.html">Join-as-you-go method</a> and the <a href="http://attic24.typepad.com/weblog/granny-stripe.html">Granny Stripe</a>! And they're all more fun than the last! </div><div style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">I've slightly lost my hook though- it's put a bit of a hold on my striping! But I'll find it! A strange mood motivated me to overhaul my bedroom, changing it around completely! I'm very happy with the results I must say. I'm quite strange, but it makes me incredibly happy just to see something in a different order than I have every day for the past year. Never have I been one for spring cleaning, but there's a first for everything!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4154/5031869865_a29ee4ac2e.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4154/5031869865_a29ee4ac2e.jpg" width="480" /></a></div><div style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"></div><div style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"></div><div style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><br />
We also got involved in a little bit of impromptu Mulberry picking! I just love how this wonderful little moments just happen, and you can appreciate the homey, <i>happy </i>feeling.</div><div style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4113/5031875751_eaaebced97.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4113/5031875751_eaaebced97.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><div style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4130/5031893765_9d07b2453d.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4130/5031893765_9d07b2453d.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><div style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"></div><div style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">We got so many! Birds ravaged the tree last year, so we never expect to beat them to it, but we did! Speaking of scary weather- we have a severe storm warning for this afternoon. So we've battened down the hatches! </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4132/5031856305_c8e3f037a0.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"> </a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"></div><div style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">We'll have to wait and see how severe this storm is! And it turned out adorably! </div><div style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">She thought so too, and put it up in the kitchen! It's just doing a simple thing like that that makes me so happy and proud. What a lovely feeling!</div>blueoceanspureskieshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16846982870148533457noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1677305514153864450.post-18467857740585026732010-09-27T22:02:00.000+10:002010-09-27T22:02:00.739+10:00Holiday IdlingAs the first official day of my short little break before prac, I decided to devote to spending my day doing absolutely nothing. And it was completely glorious!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4109/5029611894_182de3dfb9.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4109/5029611894_182de3dfb9.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br />
<br />
I found a lovely little spot out the front to work on my Daisy Patch Throw, which is coming along quite beautifully!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4105/5028990117_5ffd3e0113.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4105/5028990117_5ffd3e0113.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br />
<br />
<br />
So there I was, sitting with my gorgeous dog, Nala, crocheting away, looking out at our front yard on a beautiful spring day. Life, I thought, is good.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4146/5024415317_0d9cf3ae87.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4146/5024415317_0d9cf3ae87.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4133/5029030349_c7c6b51a1c.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4133/5029030349_c7c6b51a1c.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br />
<br />
My Daisy Patch Throw is turning out so much better than I'd ever hoped! I bought the yarn on a whim on Spotlight's 60% off day last week, and the idea just formed in my head! Using the ever-amazing <a href="http://attic24.typepad.com/weblog/summer-garden-granny-square.html">Summer Garden Granny Square</a> pattern, it really<b><i> </i></b><i>does</i><b> </b>look like a patch of daisies! It is really bringing me a lot of joy, especially going into spring! And, during my short stretch of spare time, it's coming together mighty fast! I think I did about 8 squares today, plus a bunch of sewing up! Pretty good, I think. Especially since I got some baking in! I made some <b>delicious </b><a href="http://www.flannerys.com.au/recipes/post/peanut-butter-oat-slice">Peanut Butter and Oat Slice</a>, pf which I may or may not be enjoying a piece of as I type :D<br />
<br />
Sadly, I'm just about out of wool for my throw, but I've got a few ideas circling around my head for tomorrow's crochet adventures! :D<br />
<br />
And I can't wait.blueoceanspureskieshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16846982870148533457noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1677305514153864450.post-67782392137098885052010-09-27T00:20:00.001+10:002010-09-27T00:20:48.979+10:00Introduction<span xmlns=''><p><span style='font-family:Arial; font-size:12pt'>I realised this afternoon that I've just kind of plummeted myself into the wonderful world of blogging without introducing myself! Given that I am completely stressed all the way out of my entire damn mind, I needed a break! And then I thought 'What better way to relax than to go over my finished projects from the last few weeks and bask in happy, proud pleasure?<br />
<br />
So what have I been making in the last few weeks?<br />
<br />

I've also started on some Christmas presents, which'll be fabulous fun to make!<br />
I also went on a yarn-buying spree (60% off at Spotlight yesterday!) and did my first bit of online yarn shopping! Woo! I can't wait until it arrives!!<br />

<br />
Well, that's all from me tonight, back to the salt mines!<br />
See you on the other side!!blueoceanspureskieshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16846982870148533457noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1677305514153864450.post-31451180427688428082010-09-14T13:31:00.002+10:002011-12-22T11:02:25.328+10:00Morgaine Fingerless Mittens<div style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">I'm so excited to be able to post this pattern! I'm really proud of how these mittens turned up, especially since on the day I was just making them up as I went along. </div><div style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><br />
</div><div style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">I made these mittens for my wonderful friend Jen, as a surprise! She is the reason I first became aware of the awesomeness that are fingerless mitts (and showed me the <a href="http://i53.tinypic.com/6sxv6e.jpg">fabulous ones Morgana wears</a> in BBC's <i>Merlin)</i>. I therefore named these mittens 'Morgaine', another name in Arthurian legend for Morgan le Fay. </div><div style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><br />
</div><div style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">I just love the way they turned out!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif; text-align: center;"><a href="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4087/4988775354_a291d7321c.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4087/4988775354_a291d7321c.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><div style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><br />
</div><div style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">They are so quick and completely simple to make, you could make one to match every outfit (I know I will!). Slightly impractical of me, given that I live in Australia and we're going into summer, but hey! </div><div style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><br />
</div><div style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><br />
</div><div style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><br />
<i>THE PATTERN (slash phototutorial)</i></div><div style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><br />
</div><div style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><b>Materials: </b></div><div style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><b>- </b>I used a ball of Carnival Soft 8ply 80g (from Big W) in Red for this example. You'll be able to make a pair of mittens with <i>heaps </i>of yarn left over! </div><div style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><b>- </b>4.5mm crochet hook (size 7<b>)</b></div><div style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><b>- </b>Tapestry needle for darning in</div><div style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><br />
</div><div style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><b><i>Note: for sizing, I simply measured around my wrist and made my chain that length. It will seem a bit small at first, but it'll loosen up. You don't want your mittens falling off! So just have some measurements ready (or keep trying them on throughout, if they're for you!)</i></b></div><div style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><br />
</div><div style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><b><i>Stitches used: </i></b></div><div style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><i><b><span style="color: black;">sl st</span> (slip stitch)-</b> insert hook, yo, pull loop back through stitch, then through the loop on hook.</i><i> </i></div><i style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><b>tr (treble crochet)- </b>yo, insert hook into stitch, yo, pull the loop back through stitch, yo, pull through <i>two</i> loops on hook, yo and pull through remaining two loops. </i><br />
<i style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><b>dc (double crochet)-</b> insert hook into stitch, yo, pull the loop back through stitch, yo, pull through all loops on hook. </i><br />
<i style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><b>htr</b> <b>(half treble crochet)</b>- yo, insert hook into stitch, yo, pull the loop back through stitch, yo, pull through all loops on hook. </i><br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4084/4988809932_762de69414.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4084/4988809932_762de69414.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><br />
</div><div style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><b>Round 17</b></div><div style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">I wanted a little bit of a fancy finish on these mittens, so I decided on a little wave for the top.</div><div style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4126/4988816812_23827971d7.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4126/4988816812_23827971d7.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><br />
</div><div style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><br />
</div><div style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">I achieved this by:</div><div style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">- dc, htr into top 2 loops of prev tr/ch. </div><div style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">- tr into next tr/ch along of prev round </div><div style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">- htr, dc into next tr/ch along of prev round</div><div style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"></div><div style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">Continue this pattern (which uses 3 spaces each time, so remember to count before you run out of space!<br />
<br />
You could also you scallops, or any other edging you like! </div><div style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><br />
</div><div style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><br />
</div><div style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">Bind off, darn in all your loose ends, and you're done! </div><div style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">Make him a pair, and you'll have the cutest mittens to keep your hands warm while you start on another pair to match another outfit! :D</div><div style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><br />
</div><div style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">And, the best part is you can wear them 2 different ways! Like so: </div><div style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4110/4988222461_f1ea4ef73b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4110/4988222461_f1ea4ef73b.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><div style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif; text-align: center;">or</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4125/4988231827_843e333e04.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4125/4988231827_843e333e04.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><div style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><br />
</div><div style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;">Pretty groovy, right?</div><div style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4131/4981917930_2ba1f284b0.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4131/4981917930_2ba1f284b0.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><div style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;"><br />
</span></div><div style="font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">I hope that these bring you as much joy as they do me! (and here's hoping Jen likes them when I send them her way! Shh!)</span></div>blueoceanspureskieshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16846982870148533457noreply@blogger.com26
